Applications are invited for the position of a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a DST sponsored research project in the Postharvest Biotechnology Research Programme at NABI. Project Title: “Metabolomics approach to discovery and validation of biomarkers for artificial fruit ripening induced through prohibited and acceptable ripening elicitors” (Project No: SB/YS/LS-28/2013)

  • Objective : Metabolomics is a powerful tool in the era of ‘omics’ to discover biomarkers for various diagnostic, prognosis and risk reduction strategies in life sciences. The project is aimed at application of metabolomics approach to discovery and validation of biomarkers linked to artificial fruit ripening elicitors such as calcium carbide and ethylene. This project is eventually aimed to discover a metabolite or a set of metabolites that may be useful for diagnosing or distinguishing fruit ripened with ethylene and calcium carbide. Research efforts will be directed to develop an analytical procedure for diagnosis of fruit ripened with calcium carbide which could be translated into a diagnostic tool for food safety.
    • Essential qualifications : First class M.Sc. having passed NET (CSIR/UGC)/ NET (LS) or M.Tech. in life sciences (Postharvest Technology/ Food Technology/Horticulture/Food Biotechnology/ Biotechnology and related areas).
