Who does not know the very dynamic personality,
a scientist who turned into a world- famous entrepreneur, Dr. Krishna M. Ella.
He is an Indian scientist, entrepreneur and the founder of the well acclaimed
Bharat Biotech International Ltd. His company Bharat Biotech is among the
forerunners in the Indian Biotechnology R&D and in the manufacturing and
marketing of vaccines.
Dr. Ella was born in a Telugu
agricultural family in Tamil Nadu, India and was always motivated to pursue
education in the field of agriculture. He is married to Ms. Suchitra Ella. Dr.
Ella completed his M.S. from the University of Hawaii and his Ph.D. from the
College of Agricultural Sciences, Dept. Of Plant Pathology at the University of
Wisconsin, U.S. during the years 1987 to 1993. He also worked as Assistant
Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston.
Dr. Ella is a specialist in the
field of Yeast Molecular Genetics and using these skills he founded Bharat
Biotech along with his wife, in the year 1996.
In
the initial years, his firm had to face many challenges, major being :
gathering man-power with proper expertise in the field of Recombinant DNA
technology, convincing investors about the concept and need of biotechnology
and educating regulators at the central and state government level. But, he
never lost hope and adhered to his ideas and chased his dreams, because of
which Bharat Biotech has attained such an enormous stature today.
He always wanted to change the
mindsets of people and develop new and novel molecules and products in order to
cater with the needs of the developing world. His firm is a pioneer in
developing novel products in order to relieve the common people of their
ailments, in the way generating employment as well. In this journey, Dr. Ella
has also been awarded with numerous prizes and honours for his achievements and
services, some are:
