Search for a dream job... #4 Courtesy, Eagerness and Flexibility are the important ingredients:
The first and foremost thing is always
carry an optimistic approach towards life. While seeking for a job, have a positive
outlook and show your eagerness for the job. The employers should be well aware
that you are the one who needs the job the most.
Employers favour those people who make some
extra endeavors for the job, like sending follow-up thank you notes etc. even
when the hiring process gets over. You need to reconfirm your interest in the
firm. Get yourself the tag of the “one who wants the job the most.”
Stay in touch with career counselors and
learn from them how to connect with the employers even if you were not hired.
This will help you be their favourable candidate for the future.
Send in “thank you” notes for all those who
have helped you in any possible manner and keep them updated about your
progress. People will remember you for your courtesy and politeness.
Whenever you apply for a job, enquire
within a week or two after applying about your candidature either through an email
or a phone call.
“Be flexible and compromising”- is the key
mantra to success.
Do not reject any vacancy on location
grounds. Even if the geographical location is different from what you had
planned, consider it and take it as a new opportunity, a new task to be
accomplished. It will be a new experience for you and join, at least for a
short period.
Even working in a different industry, than
what you had actually planned, should be considered.
Do not reject the offer if the starting
salary offered is lower than what you had planned.
Your lifestyle should be flexible
accordingly.
Consider options of part-time jobs, as they
may strengthen your candidature for full-time positions.
