Nagaland University is a Central University established by the Government of India in the state of Nagaland. It was established in 1994. The University runs M. Phil & Ph. D programmes in Zoology. At present, 15 students are enrolled for PhD programme. The department is equipped with faculty & facilities to guide research programmes in diversified areas like Reproduction Biology, Fish Biology and Fisheries, Ecology and Drosophilid genetics and functional genomics.
