The Indian Institute of Vegetable Research (IIVR), Varanasi is a constituent body of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). This is a major Institute devoted to research on vegetables and is situated in the greater periphery of the Holy city - Varanasi. Vegetable research was given impetus through establishment of AICRP on vegetable crops during 1971 at IARI, New Delhi with the responsibilities of coordinating and monitoring of vegetable research programmes of the country.
It is proposed to fill up one contractual position of Pest Scout/Data Collection Assistant under NICRA project on “Real Time Insect Pest Survelliance (RTPS) in Tomato Crop” at this Institute through interview/test etc. The eligible and desirous candidates fulfilling the requirements should appear before the Selection Committee for interview on 01.11.2013 at 10.00 A.M. at this Institute.

- Essential Qualification : Graduate in Agriculture/ Plant Protection/Zoology/Horticulture.
- Desirable : Candidates having knowledge of identifying insect pests of vegetable crops. Preference will be given to the candidates with field work experience in the relevant area.
- Nature of work : Daily visit to farmers fields in villages near by Varanasi and IIVR for collection of data on insect pests and diseases of tomato and other vegetable crops. The candidates preferably should have driving license of two wheeler to visit farmers field daily.
- Remuneration : Rs. 8,000/- p.m. fixed
- Age : The upper age limit is 30 years
